Tent Size Guide

Estimate the covered area first. Then Party Party turns your guest count, layout and site into the right tent and CAD floor plan.

Party Party Planning Chart

Common Tent Sizes and Seating Capacity

Use this chart as an initial seating-capacity range. Dance floors, bars, buffets, stages, service areas and wider aisles reduce the number of guests a tent can comfortably hold.

On a phone, swipe the chart sideways to see every column.

Wedding Planning

Suggested Covered Area Per Guest

Ceremony Seating

8–10 sq ft per guest
Rows of chairs with appropriate aisles.

Plated Dinner

20 sq ft per guest
Dining tables, chairs and comfortable circulation.

Full Reception

25 sq ft per guest
Plated dinner plus dance floor, stage and bar.

Example: 100-Guest Wedding

A ceremony-only layout starts around 800–1,000 square feet. A plated dinner starts around 2,000 square feet. A reception with dinner, dance floor, stage and bar starts around 2,500 square feet. These are area estimates—not automatic tent selections—because the shape and site still matter.

Common Questions

Tent Sizing FAQs

Why can’t I choose a tent from guest count alone?

The same guest count can require very different footprints. Round tables use space differently from banquet tables, and a dance floor, buffet, bar, stage and service aisles all reduce seating capacity.

Does the installation surface affect the size or style?

Yes. Grass, pavement, decks, rooftops, slopes and restricted-access sites affect which tent styles and anchoring methods are appropriate. A site review helps confirm the safest, most practical option.

Can Party Party draw the complete layout?

Yes. Party Party offers CAD drawings to help place tables, chairs, dance floors and event zones before installation. Larger or unusual sites can also receive a free site visit.
